Jun Li is a Richard and Barbara Nelson Assistant Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities. His research areas are surface science, polymers, heat and mass transfer, and HVAC&R. He received his Ph.D. and M.S. degrees from UIUC and his B.S. degree from Shanghai Jiao Tong University, China, all in mechanical engineering. At UIUC, he was studying at the Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Center (ACRC) and was advised by Prof. Pega Hrnjak to research phase separation in microchannel condensers. Before joining the University of Minnesota, he held a Postdoctoral Research Fellow position at the Department of Materials Science and Engineering at the University of Michigan. He studied polymeric anti-icing coatings in the Polymers, Surfaces, and Interfaces (PSI, ψ) group of Prof. Anish Tuteja. He was a recipient of the 2023 James Joule Young Researcher Award from the International Institute of Refrigeration and a participant in the 2023 ASEE DELTA Junior Faculty Institute.
