Our research focus is in the areas of heat transfer, surface science, and polymers. Our research aims to reduce the energy consumption and assist in the decarbonization for the society. The materials side of our research investigates the chemistries of different polymers and the phenomena at various surfaces and interfaces, and then design better-performed materials based on those understandings. We build unique capabilities to quantify the performance of these new materials in real-world conditions. The thermal side of our research studies the underlying physics of phase-change heat transfer and multiphase flow, with the end goal of applying them to innovate/improve thermal fluids and energy systems.
